The Portixedda Tower was the ancient gate east of the Oristano wall, and is still today between Via Mazzini and Vico Solferino.

The Portixedda Tower, currently circular construction, has two distinct stages of construction. The square base, which is only recently discovered inside, makes for a first architectural period of the 13th century, while the circular base visible from the outside, is part of the edifice in the age of Spanish domination.

It is assumed that the tower was not used for military purposes for which it was built, but it was only access to the city from the east. Later it was also used to defend the city.
