The archaeological site of Tharros, with its ancient Punico-Roman city, is located on the south side of the beautiful Sinis Peninsula, a few miles from Oristano. Founded at the end of VIII century BC The city of Tharros was an important pole in the economic life of Sardinia. Its period of greatest economic and urban splendor is with Roman domination.
Inside the city, there are numerous remains of typically Roman houses and religious temples, as well as the great Roman amphitheater north of the city still used today for concerts and performances. Symbol of the archaeological area, are the famous white columns still intact inside.
